Shotcrete---failures & troubleshoot of blockage problems

March 23, 2024

When the rotor, discharge elbow or conveying pipe of the shotcrete machine for dry material is blocked during use, it may be caused by excessive aggregate particle size or excessive water content of the material. Let's take a look at what we should do when the aggregate particle size is too large to cause blockage:

Failure: rotor, discharge elbow or feeding pipe are blocked

Reason: The aggregate particle size is too large

Troubleshooting method: If the material conveying pipe is blocked, stop the machine, close the air passage valve, remove the material conveying pipe from the elbow, open the air passage valve, blow out the material stored in the rotor, check the material conveying pipe, knock the blocked part with a wooden stick, and loosen or empty the blockage. Finally, connect the feeding pipe to the elbow and blow it out with compressed air. If the conveying distance exceeds 40m, each 20m long pipeline shall be treated separately.

Note: Before disassembling the discharge elbow or pipeline, the pressure in the feeding pipe shall be reduced to 0.
